I am absolutely addicted to this series, and i'd reccommend to those who are looking for something a bit different. it looks and strikes you as a fantasy book but its actually a sci-fi and you'll understand why later on in the series.

Its got 'dragons' in it, but the creatures were just named dragons because they looked like the mythical beasts. and for once, they arent evil. They sear thread which falls from the red star onto pern, preventing it from corrupting the planet.

Its quite a political book surprisingly, and it doesnt get stale with the same characters. theres always something fresh and new in the next book.

a 9.5/10 i say!

Oh, I just recently finished "Dragonflight". :XD: It was really good, I loved it! I read "First Fall" as well. I have to buy more from the series.

How many of the books have you read? I think there's over a dozen of them. @_@ It's gonna take me a while to collect them all...

haha! well i definately suggest reading them in order! they're somewhat chronological with a few exceptions.

i'm upto #5 the white dragon, which is actually the book i started on when i picked it up at a marketplace. it helps that i know what they hell is going on now!

Ah, Nicola, I knew I had posted about this before. XD But I think having a new thread is fine, since that one's over a year old now.

Hah, good idea. XD I know First Fall was written later, but I read it first. It actually kind of helped because it gave background about the discovery of the planet and everything. And it had dolphins. <3 The only thing it didn't get into was the Thread... the description was really vague. But I was already familiar with it from tidbits I've read before, so it was ok.
