Dark Cloud was one of the very first games ever to come out for PS2 . I love this game because of the ability to create your villages and travel through dungeons (sort of like a Zelda set up) and collect rare items, synth weapons, and play through the epic storyline. Dark Cloud 2 expanded on the Georama (world creating) mode much more but its kiddy-like graphics were nothing of the same compared to Dark Cloud 1. Anybody else play this game ??

I think Dark Cloud was one of the first PS2 games, if not the first, that I got.
I play it, I love it, and DC2 is a great sequel, I would love to see more.

I played both, but Dark Chronicle sapped my will to live and play on just by its sheer size.
Once I got to chapter 6 my will to play was gone.

Another great sequel for Dark Cloud would actually be kind of hard , do you think that people ever get tired of going to dungeons and creating villages ? If they could pull this off I would love to see it / play it .

I own it still, havent quit playing it since the day it came out. It really has a lot of replay value, mostly due to the weapon creations and dungeons. Building the villages was most of the fun I had in these games, even though Dark Cloud 2 was more story and weaponry, I thought the first one had the better building system. Easier atleast.
I found the battle system to be interesting, I wouldn't call it better then most, but it still peaked in originality. What with the item system, and fairly slow paced combat.
The characters were really cool in the first, Xio, the cat that lives in your house was funny. And userful when crossing gaps. She was my favourite along side Ruby, the armlet goddess, as I like to call her.
Enough of my blabbering, go out and buy this game if you haven't already.

Another thing I loved about this game was the Duels , in which you had to press the control combo (for instance , up down X left square triangle, etc) and I would loved to have seen more of those .

Dark Cloud was alright but not without it's severe design and camera flaws. For the time it was graphically rich, but alas it got let down in a lot of other departments and hardly became the Zelda-killer that Sony flagged it up to be.
I prefer Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2 in the USA) vastly over Dark Cloud. Dark Chronicle just felt like the complete package, the graphics were cel-shaded (which ISN'T kiddy, people who use the cel-shaded = kiddy line should be shot - is Killer 7 kiddy? No, there we go.) and they flowed beautifully. The soundtrack was wonderful as well and the whole Georama system felt like it had much more of a point to it, once again you built the towns and locales from scratch, but this time depending on how you did it affected the items you could acquire in the future.
The storyline, granted wasn't anything we haven't seen before but it was enough to make me want to play on. The only qualm is that the game is too big for it's own good, particularly the larger dungeons toward the end of the game which eventually became more of a chore than anything else (especially considering the rooms were randomly-generated).
However the game gave you incentives to clear the dungeons, not only for character training and weapons development - but also for it's rather pretty minigames, the mini-golf and fishing (on some stages).
I found the second instalment an absolute joy to play, only let down by the sheer size toward the end of the game. It's definately one of the PS2's most underrated titles.

I've played them both. I personally enjoyed Dark Cloud 1 over Dark Cloud 2. I love the idea of building towns, randomly generated dungeons. Storyline was alright, not the best but not horrible either. What I didn't like is in the first one was once your weapon broke, you lost it. I found that aspect to be annoying and was happy to see it fixed in Dark CLoud 2. I never had a problem with the graphics of either games. They are worth playing for anyone who's interested in something new and different.

I agree. The weapon breaking thing was very frustrating , only to see in DC that my Brave Ark broke and I was stuck with a Buster sword in the last level . boo ! I say !

I never played Dark Cloud, but played Dark Chronicle over the winter break a couple of years back. I really liked the light hearted story and addictive gameplay. The mini-games were some of the best in any RPG, such as Spheda and fishing.

I've played the first Dark Cloud and liked it enough. Never played 2, though.

Fishing is one of the best things about Dark Cloud 1 and 2 . It's also seen in WoW , but you can't use poisoned apples as bait in WoW !!!

Dark Chronicle is a lot better than Dark Cloud, no question about that.
But its size really did kill itself off, not to mention that no matter how strong you became you never could survive more than 3 hits whenever exploring a new dungeon.
I'v played the 2! but I liked Dark Cloud 2 better...
well I didn't bet the game yet...I'm kind of lazy these days...
I'll try to finish it in the holiday ^_^!

I liked both. The first one was good, excellent music and some neat weapons (Ooo, the seventh heaven) The bad part was the plodding dungeons and lame characters that you were forced to use at times. (Like Apu, that desert guy). Dark Cloud 2 was a lot better. Although one of the characters used a wrench. It was still neat. Good weapon customization and easier to navigate with only 2 characters.

I played both DC 1 and 2. It was an interesting RPG game. The First DC wasn't really that good when i started. The Dungeon were lame where you had to hunt monster to obtain the Gate Key. The Duel command were fun and the Georama Placements were easy. The most hating part I hate is when you lose hp so fast that you need to buy Healing items to survive longer. The Second DC was way better than DC 1. You can upgrade your weapons faster, use atlamilla to travel back in time, and How you see other char from DC 1 like the Dark Genie in the Bonus Chapter. I would say the DC2 beats DC1.

I haven't played the first Dark Cloud but Dark Chronicle was brilliant. Everything about it was brilliant, the graphics, the randomly generated dungeons, the way you can create your own town, weapon system, voices, creative presentation, everything..
Another brilliant game which deserves a god damn sequel!!

Ahh...what can I say about the games that hasn't already been said by everybody else. I loved everything about it, except for the insanely large amounts of time that it took to fully level a weapon.
I just wish that I could play it again because my copy got scratched by one of my idiotic friends; oh well, I'll just steal their copy of it while they're not looking. :p

Lol I never finished playing dark cloud, I'm still at the first dungeon....anyways like most people here I liked what I played. Making the village was fun and I spent lot of time making swords with different elements and abilities.
