The Monkey Island Series

One of my all time favourite series of games and one that I implore all PC owners to play. I grew up with the games which is one reason that I hold so much love for them. My Grandma was quite the "point and click" adventure gamer (Indiana Jones, Broken Sword) and still is; she was the one who got me into the games all those years ago. I can't have been much older than a toddler when I was playing the first.

Despite appearances, the Monkey Island games never took themselves seriously, even though they came out of LucasArts. They were just fun, use your head games. I was sceptical, especially after six years of waiting when Curse came out, but I can honestly say that it's Adventure gaming at it's highest level.

The cartoon graphics worked better than I could have thought with the premise of the game. Escape on the other hand, while still maintaining all of the things I love about the games, didn't make the jump up to 3D very well. I didn't let that annoy me, but I would have preferred them sticking with the cartoon-style.

Now we're waiting for another game, what may well be the last and we're not getting any news. I'm sure you all heard the Voodoo Lady talking about her "five game deal" right? Who knows what's going to happen?

Guys, if you haven't played these games you're missing out.

God I love this series! Next to the Broken Sword series, its the number one for point and click adventure games. You truly are missing out if you havent experinced a single one. My cousin got me into Monkey Island when I was 7 years old and I never completed it and he sadly lost it :( It wasnt untill 2 years ago that my boyfriend discovered I loved the series and he had copies of the first two games! Well its hiding somewhere in our apartment.

I prefered the old games to the latest 3D one, they were more old skool and had charm. Dont get me wrong, I do love the newer ones, Dominic Armato, Charity James and Earl Boen are great as Guybrush, Elaine and LeChuck, but I also love good old text games.

Yeah I remember that, I brought it up in the last thread for MI, but some people thought it was a load of rubbish. I hope its true.

Recently downloaded Return. It's a lot of fun, with such lame humor that you can't help but smile.

Oh the monkey island series! My fav series of them all! I like these more than simpsons :) I like the first games enough but i really love Escape from monkey island. Really really! That one is my absolute favourite! The monkey island series aint the only genious "point and click" adventure from LucasArts. I mean, we have Day of the tentacle, Sam & max hit the road, The Dig (maybe the best game ever?) Full Throttle.. all really sweet adventure games! Play them, love them!
