Mandave Town are back, and this time we're aiming for the top! :horns:
http://fantasy.premierleague.com/index.html
159989-35656 for the FFI Premiership.
I'll definitely enter, but will wait until all of the summer signings are done first. I want Orcos Tevez in if he goes to Man Utd, but not if he stays at Crap Ham.
Odds on Malice finishing ahead of Nem this season? Three-hundred-billion to one.

YaY! It's already time to choose teams!? I can't wait to be kicking british arses again. I feel sympathy for the people I dominated over last year.
Your A10 pilots seem to do plenty of British Arse-Kicking to go around, thankyou very much Mr. Cocky American.
I've already decided the spine of my team, and shall build around it accordingly. When all the transfers are done. Don't wanna get it all done and finished then Reading sign Ronaldinho or something in the final hour of the transfer window
Brother
07-16-2007, 01:04 PM
It's free transfers until the start of the season though, isn't it? That's why I just whacked in an auto-complete team for now.
In that case, I'm in!
Right, I'm going to put my Cards on the table and name my provisional 'assembled in four minutes at work' team.
Sorensen
Campbell
Lescott
Primus
Ronaldoooooo
Fabregas
Arteta
Koumas
Drogbaaaaaa
Berbatov
Earnshaw
aaannnddd three crap substitutes.
Goodbye, Malice Palace!
I'll play along again. Last season went badly... :(
THE TOP SPOT WAS SOOO MINE! And then not even a podium position.

I just put Shorey in for Primus, so you have the same back three as me. Bit lightweight upfront though, Mandave? Kamara, Berbala and Viduka? Call me Mr Picky, but you need a centre forward from the top four.
I can't decide between drog and roon. Got drog in at the moment, but Roonel's due a cracking season. Drogalinton tends to score more, but the roonifred will get more assists. ah, decisions decisions. I could just have both in, and swap fabregas for a lesser midfielder.
Edit: Fuck it, rooney's going in for Drog. I just see united being rampant up front this season.

Rubbish. I need three proven goal scorers, and that's what I've got. Rooney and Drogba aren't worth the massive price tags slapped on them. I can play Kamara and not have to make sacrifices like putting Sorenson in goal.

Well yes Dr Clownius, I understand the Sorensen comment, but the Rooneys of this world are worth the money as United score twice as many goals as someone like Kamara's Fulham, and Rooney usually either scores or assists and tends to pick up alot of bonus points.
Look at our respective positions past season :p

It's a good job that Nem doesn't have a job printing players' names on the back of replica shirts!
I've still not opened the fantasy premier league website yet. Still bitter about losing out against Nem by FOUR lousy points. I'll be there at the start of the season though, you mark my words! This time it's personal. Henry used to be my staple goalscorer, so my team should have a lot more money to splash in other areas this time around.
People just don't understand the brilliance of my footballing brain.
Walking home from a game the other day, I spied a gate about 25 yards away, and nonchantly informed my companions I could get the ball through it from where I stood.
Bollocks, they said. Bollocks to you, a curling left foot beauty replied.
I know that has nothing to do with Fantasy Football, but I just wanted to tell that sparklingly skillful anecdote :(
Brother
07-25-2007, 01:09 PM
Pfft, twenty-five yards? I didn't know you played Nem.
D'you reckon Tevez'll still be 8.5 million if he moves to Man. United? I've got him in my non-team as a "just in case". I'm going to wait until the last minute. It takes me ages to decide.
Tevez will go up to about 12m if he goes to United I reckon.
I just couldn't gamble on him definitely going with the upcoming court case - if it seems he's on his way to United, he's going in.
PS: My gate heroics were as much by luck as judgement i must confess.

Well, I think I've taken a few risks that probably wont pay offf. Still, it's a marathon, not a sprint! Right guys? :(
Don't worry, palace. Either format of race you're still going to end agonisingly just behind me, as you have for the past two years. I'm surprised you're not used to it by now
Edit: I have gambled on United forcing the Tevler transfer through, so I have put him in for Berbala. This freed up a million to vastly improve my goalkeeper to the high-scoring penalty-saving hero that is Brad Friedalinton.

Friedel
Hahnemann
Lescott
Baines
Campbell

Berbatov
I'm taking a risk on Torres not doing a Shevchenko, I know.
I wanted Torres but I was scared it would be like last year when I had Crouch. He plays two games and only get subed in the last minute in the next three games.
Tevez I think is a disaster waiting to happen to a lot of people that is picking him. I don't know why Man U wanted him, and look how Saha and Rooney played last year. Tevez might just be playing a lot of bench time in my opinion.
I like that Barbatov pick though :) I think he has the highest precentage pick on my team.
PS- Woodgate is a fag for being an injured pansy!
My Team without Woodgate as one of my defenders:
Hahnemann
Lescott
Bocanegra
Lee
Gerrard (Captain!) < he'll do better this year
Lampard
Gamst Pederson
Speed
Anelka
Barbatov
Kanu
Probably not the best team but I like how it looks.

I don't think Man Utd would be going through all this legal trouble and blowing over £30m just to have another bench warmer. Tevez is a quality, quality player, and one with integrity for once. If the move does go through I can see him and Rooney having very good seasons together.

Exactly why I've got them both upfront. They'll be devestating in terms of points-scoring: If one doesn't finish it off, the other will.

Tough start this year. Team as it stands:
James / Howard
Carvalho / Sol Campbell / Kolo Touré / Ledley King / Rosenior
Milner / C Ronaldo / Reo-Coker / Carsley / Hunt (the Reading one. Nicky?*)
Lita / Tevez / Berbatov
Added first names where there might be some ambiguity.
*Edit: No, Nicky Hunt is the Bolton defender. I am thinking of Stephen Hunt.

Boyce
Baines (Banking on him going to Everton)
Jaidi
Mellberg

Ronaldo
Reo-Coker

Drogba -> Torres
Tevez
Berbatov
I don't know whether to keep Drogba in place of Torres, who I still have a good feeling about, and get a better midfielder like Arteta, or not. :(

To be honest, I lost interest in the beautiful game, I haven't really watched a match in three months so my choices would be arbitary at best.

In fairness, Tevez wasn't shit at all last season, he just wasn't scoring to start with, when he was settling in. He hit the woodwork countless times and was constantly creating chances. When he actually settled properly he was awesome, especially considering the poor, uninspiring team he had behind him.

In an interview with The Evening Standard, Reject's boss Dan Brookes responded angrily to fellow manager Andre Madioce's comments stating: "I expected a more amicable reaction, given he was the one who pioneered the tactic. I'm not surprised though, now he has some real competition on his hands and the stress is beginning to show".
Brookes went on to suggest that he wouldn't be drawn further on the matter, stating that if he replied every time someone had a comment about his team, he wouldn't have any time left to actually manage his club!
The handsome Madioce seemed curiously dismissive of Brookes' CHEATING WHORING TACTICS. In 'The London Paper' he swept aside Brookes' remarks, instead aiming to focus on the still-convincing lead he holds over the CHEATING WHORING TEAM. 'It's the smaller clubs I feel sorry for', he remarked, 'those who have spent their whole seasons aiming for second place behind the illustrious Andernazionale, and now their efforts, nay lives, appear to have been in vain'
Dark Mandy
04-15-2008, 07:31 PM
The London Paper, Nem? Not very glamourous.
Well, a comfortable title for Andernazionale in the end. They seared into the lead in the spring, and never looked in danger of relinquishing their advantage.
With Cristiano Ronaldo as their talismanic points scorer, coupled with a couple of shrewd buys (I'm looking at you, Ashley Young and Sebastian Larsson) no-one can really argue that the best team didn't win the league.
Even Malice's devious subbing-in of his other team was not enough to deny the boys in black and blue their deserved title celebrations.
Hurrah!
