What margin? And why would you want to advertise a thread? Right now I have no idea what use this would be. XD

I think he's talking about a small box somewhere in the thread where "good little boys" get to put up what threads they have high opinion of (for example, their own fanfiction thread XD). It's kind of like how premium members of FanFiction.Net and FictionPress.Net have their stories randomly put up at a box at the top of every list.
