The Plot

For three hundred years the twin countries of Rasche and Dulchaka have been feuding. Both Empires started as city states, their growth brought about by war, genocide and political machinations. Once the Continent of Blythe had been abundant in countries and culture, a melting pot for different ideas, religions and ideologies. All of this was gone now, steamrolled under the wheels of war. Rasche and Dulchaka however find themselves in an untenable situation. Sword for sword, arrow for arrow, castle for castle, magic for magic, they are equals. The few major battles raged between the two leading to nothing but mutual destruction.

This standstill has forced an armistice, the threat of mutual destruction enough for the two countries to attempt diplomacy. However an aspiring industrial is threatening to disrupt all of this. For the last ten years the Fallkirk Company have been working off of what were once ludicrous designs to craft rifles, airships and explosives which may give one of the countries enough of an advantage to destroy the other. Aware of this technology both countries have sent emissaries to try and buy Fallkirk’s allegiance. There is also a third party, a group of dissidents from both countries who are trying to upset the balance of power. This group see Fallkirk as a major threat and have sent a party to assassinate the head of the company, Augustine Fallkirk, and destroy any prototypes they find.

The Factions

The Rasche Party

Made up of diplomats with an official military escort. The people of Rache are fairly nationalistic and as such want the technology to promote their ideology. Non-religious and governed by the promises of their totalitarian government. They favour magic, but will have melee troops in their ranks.

The Dulchaka Party

Made up of one diplomat and several bodyguards, with several mercenaries in tow. See this more as a financial opportunity, looking for promotion for their success. Favours melee combat, but will have some mages.

The Fallkirk Party

An army of mercenaries on Fallkirk’s payroll. Fallkirk provides their clothes, housing and weaponry and as such they have grown to become almost serf like in their dedication to him. They use prototype rifles and other bits of steam powered technology.

The Dissidents

Assassins and rabble rousers. Use Molotov cocktails and long range weaponry, prefer subterfuge to full on confrontation. More acrobatic than anything else, although they have a few old warriors in their ranks who represent the old cultures of Blythe. They have learned from manuscripts scavenged from before the days of Rasche and Dulchaka. Essentially Samurai and Ninjas.

If you want to join, use this thread to sign up and I’ll get things started when we get a few people together. Try and give us a small profile of your character. Below is mine, which you can use as a guide.

Name: Sebastian Markes

Age: 37

Faction: Fallkirk

Role: Augustine Fallkirk’s right hand man

Appearance: Tall and slim, pale with sharp, regal features. Looks like he should be aristocracy more than anything else. Neck length, blonde hair tied back in a tight ponytail. Blue eyes magnified greatly by a pair of silver spectacles. Well toned due to an early start in the military, he’s more wirey than muscular and as such is disarmingly strong despite his weak looking frame.

Clothes: Dark blue dress clothes, with a red cravat coming from his collar. His hands are gloved in velvet and he wears a long Dark Blue cloak, with maroon lining, most of the time which hides the weapons on his belt.

Weapons: One pistol, molded in treated silver. The handle is polished elk horn, the trigger is hair pinned for quick fire. Fires larger bullets than usual, designed to make up for his lack of accuracy with a greater deal of stopping power. He also uses a small, military issued, rapier whenever possible.
