View Full Version : The stupidest thing a movie has done to a comic

Everyone who's ever read the comic "X-Men" or ever watched any of the shows (*raises hand* Me. Guilty. I only read a few comics. I'm broke as hell.) knows that Nightcrawler is Mistique's (sp?) son and rouge in her adopted daughter. However, in the movies, they completely skip that factor! It was a stupid thing to do because that was a very important thing in the comics AND the show!
On that note, how would Rouge being Mistique's adopted daughter make her a shifter? Or did I miss something and Mistique adopted Rouge BECAUSE of her power-absorbing abilities?
You've forgotten a major detail in your rantings: it's a movie. In every single comic book adaptation from Marvel, they have skipped over things that aren't important to really point out. Such as in Spider Man, how they make no mention of Gwen, and then the Green Goblin dies. Gwen was pretty important to the storyline.
Now they're going to integrate Venom into the third movie, and I have no idea how. Spider Man hasn't gone to space yet, and I don't see him doing so any time soon.

Its like the HP movies, lots is missed out cause we would be at the movies for hours. Stan Lee was meant to be present on the XMen set and advised what to do and how to go about it cause he is Marvel. Im sure there was a good reason why Mistique's past wasnt mentioned.

Yeah...they can't pay too much attention to details otherwise the movies would be too long...I think that might be why they leave stuff such as that out. They sure do seem to pick the "wrong" things to leave out of the movies a lot of the time though lol.

You're asking them to sum up a 40+ year old comic book series in just three movies. A lot of stuff is going to be left out. Not only that, but comic books are notoriously difficult to adapt to the big screen because of their long (often convoluted) histories. You just can't fit anywhere near that much information into such a short period of time.
They're not going to show everything in the movies, the X-Men universe is to expansive to be show in enough detail to satisfy everyone in one movie. Let alone three.
