My friend who is also a FF fun like me used to tell me that the first FF was Final Fantasy Legend (1), then Legend 2, then Legend 3 and after these Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3, 4, … and that for example European FF6 is the American FF3?
So are these true: Final Fantasy Legend 1 is not the same game with Final Fantasy 1 (and the same with 2 & 3) and for example European FF6 is the American FF3. What about Final Fantasy Adventure (it was an action RPG, right?)? Please answer my questions, although I know it is a bit big!
:p

The first final fantasy games was Final Fantasy on the Nintendo (the NES). It was the game that started it all. It's not the same game as Legend.

Final Fantasy Legend 1, 2 and 3 are not even Final Fantasy games, they are in fact part of the SaGa series of games. They use the name FF to make them more popular outside Japan.

Final Fantasy Adventure is a Final Fantasy game, however it's full name is Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden (Gaiden means side story), the Final Fantasy name was dropped and what should have been Adventure 2 and eventually 3 became their own seperate and individual series called Seiken Densetsu, which is known outside Japan as Secret of Mana, the start of the Mana series. This game was later remade for the GBA as Sword of Mana.

Final Fantasy 6 for the SNES was never released in Europe until it came out on the PS1, Final Fantasy 3 in the US on the SNES is in fact Final Fantasy 6 in Japan.

Final Fantasy 1, 2 and 3 in America was really Final Fantasy 1, 4 and 6.

And, to be perfectly technical, the FFIV that NA got as FFII was actually a dumbed-down version of the Japanese FFIV. A more 'pure', or original, version of FFIV is seen in the PSX release...

I don't think that Seiken Densetsu II or III were ever called Final Fantasy Adventure II and III though...But I guess I don't know for certain on that one...

That's assuming I am remembering right. I could be confusing the fact there are 3 Legend games with 3 Adventure games. it's possible (and when I think about i'm pretty sure) there was just one Adventure game, which was later ported to the GBA as Sword of Mana

Yeah, there was only one Adventure...it wasn't just ported to GBA, it was more or less completely remade & rehauled (and much better than FFA)...The three Legend games were the first three SaGa games...

Well, FFIII hasn't been released yet...not until the DS one gets there, I believe...or is that out already? I'm so not hip to that...Otherwise things should be more or less the same...although the whole Chronicles & Anthology thing w/Europe is different than that of NA...But I think they've got all of the rest w/Origins and Dawn of Souls and IV Advance...

It did change for us.

Europe ended up getting FF1 and 2 in Origins just like in the US, but we got FF4 and 5 in Anthology (while in the US it was 5 and 6). FF6 was released seperately with the FFX demo.

I am not sure why, maybe because Chrono Trigger was never originally released here (but in the US it was under Chronicles with FF4) and may have been stopped because they didn't original release Chrono Cross here either and had no plans to.

As for the GBA games, they've been released normally and as of yet no FF3 for the DS as it's out August in Japan then a few months later in the US
