View Full Version : FFI Official Teams
Question Mark

I have been giving this some thought, and perhaps when FFI's population regains, or now even.
Perhaps having teams to compete in Poetic, Story, Art, Graphical competitiong, ect, would be a good idea to increase activity, and bring members together for some healthy posting activity.
Have starting leaders who create a name, and let members join freely, but there should be limitations due to people wanting to join one specific group because it may have a moderator in lead.
Of course everyone can expand from this, what do you say?

All in all, a very good idea, except I understand the flaw you're trying to point out here. However, I'm in support of the idea, even though I'm skeptical as to how many people will take it seriously. But I'm supporting this idea.
I think it's a great idea. It'd be great experience. That's how the writers for movies and games all work; in teams. It'd be great experience.

I remember someone had a request about GFX teams, but was shot down due to possible one-sided superiority. If the staff is okay with, It could be interesting.

I appreciate the support, thank you.
Now we have to wait for a moderator to approve, or administrator.
How exactly would these teams compete? I don't really understand the details of the idea at the moment.

I think what Jenova has in mind is that members of FFI would kind of form up like clans within the forum, except they're all probably dedicated to an art form. Then, when contests show up, they join as a group or something. It's probably just something to encourage competition, community fun, and bragging rights, I suppose.
At least, that's what I think. Everyone else is allowed to have their own interpretation of the idea.

They compete in competitions that fit into the catagory of drawing, graphical work, writing. Basicly contests like the other forums hold, but deticated just for team members to compete. A member could possibly create a trophie for the best clan to hold until another team proves victorious.
I see this working quite well.

I like it, sounds good. This would be a good way to add a little bit of unique-ness(made up word lol) to the forum. Also provide a more friendly atmosphere or perhaps a competitive cut throat one...We would just have to wait and see.
How many people would make a team? And how would the teams get chosen? My suggestion is that you have each person submit a piece of work, and then have a group of "moderators" (I don't mean FFI mods, I mean a group of a few people who would moderate the teams) put teams together based on skill level and type of work.

Isn't it just like the clans that they have over at Zelda Universe? I like the idea personally, as long as all of the popular members wouldn't be persuaded to flock to one team. We'd need an even distribution and possibly a fair means of deciding who goes where. I think at ZU they have a quiz and according to the results you get placed in a respective clan, based on wisdom, power and courage (as the clans are based on the three goddesses).

I like the idea, and I agree with Brotherhood on the quiz. *supports*
So could someone post more details...? And what are the mods thinking of this so far?
Question Mark

I guess you could say these are like Zelda Universe's clan system, but these are more like families on the forums. A group of people who discuss general topics, entertainment, spam, and competition issues.
Basicly a forum inside a forum, it would boost post count, activity, and would be a lot of fun to compete, and talk with other clans/members.
The thing we have to decide is the leaders, and the names of the teams.
I don't think the names of the teams is very important, but captains certainly are.

Why not? I support the idea.

ZU's clans are like families who have their own private forums to discuss general topics, entertainment, spam e.t.c.
I'm still a little unsure of what you're proposing, and I think you're getting ahead of yourself with names and leaders. We haven't even agreed on anything yet. What do you mean by forum within a forum?

A forum within a forum is a sub-forum. Much like the old club forum was a sub-forum of the spam forum etc.

Think the forum within forum is a bit too much. Simple clan families would be nice.

I know. :p
I was just unsure of the fact that he said it like he did, and maybe it held some other meaning because of that.

I meant it like Ariel said, sorry for the confusion. And yes, I'll slow down.
What else would you like to know?
PS: I'm not trying to rip this idea off of ZU or anything, I just think FFI should give it a try.

Perhaps having teams to compete in Poetic, Story, Art, Graphical competitiong
Does this mean that they all work together on one project, or that everyone individually in the team makes stuff, and the winner is based on who has overall better entries?
It sounds like an interesting idea.
What about all at once? Maybe have a couple of writers work together to form either a short story or a basic story line, and then have a couple artists work together to get character renditions or landscape pictures of something.

I would personally think that clans would be a nice idea, so long as it isn't heavily overbalanced. But we never know, do we?
I can't see it working so well with things like fiction, but artwork collaborations would definitely be an interesting one, I suppose. One person could sketch, a second could clean it up and ink it in, and a third could colour it. But do you really need to have set teams for collaborations like that? Wouldn't it be better if you could collaborate with someone different for each contest?

If this idea works, the teams should be devided evenly. For example, 1 popular member, 1 not popular memeber, and then 1 memeber does art, 1 member writes poems ect.

How exactly do you define a popular member though?

Use me as a base sample...
I like teams, it gives me an opportunity to get even more angry when Brotherhood becomes the head of team cinematheque or whatever faggy nonsense he comes up with.

Hmm. Collaberation or seperate, both appeal to me, and are great ideas. I like where this is going.
So far, is it a yay, or a nay?

I you need anymore information I'm post/PM away, don't hesitate.

I think when Jenova brought up teams, I think it was something more like team competition, something like clans for bragging rights. Just a sense of unity, I guess.
Question Mark
02-18-2006, 06:24 AM
That's part of it, it's mainly to bring the members of FFI together and have fun with discussion and teamwork in competetions. I think it would be a great asset to the forums.

It's in there along with a few other things that are under consideration, I just have a lot of other things to sort out beforehand.
