The Code of the Courier

The courier, a person who has sworn an oath to their employee to see that their package gets delivered safely. Think of them as a pirate for hire if you will. They travel from place to place, by land or by sea
To get their jobs done. One will not stop midway to deliver their item that is the most important rule in the code of a Courier. There was one man who lived and breathed these rules, he was the best out there. His name? None other than Nimbus Trent, the seas quivered with the very mention of his name.
Nimbus and his crew traveled the world for ten long years, during that time they delivered so many packages, accumulated so much money and fame, came down with so many rare sicknesses, that almost every other Courier was out of a job. You either loved him or hated him, that’s just how it was with Nimbus.

One day while in Port Rosa Nimbus’ crew was given a job. The biggest one any of them had ever seen, the sum 10,000,000 smackers. All they had to do was deliver this wine called Dragonheart to a mansion in the town Ipsen. Dragonheart was a fine wine, and the bottle was well aged to boot, but for that much money? The entire crew was uneasy about this delivery, but this was too much money to turn down . . . no matter how risky the delivery would be. The other odd thing about this delivery was that it was under no name, the Courier’s guild in Rosa only said where it was due.

None the less, the crew and a confident Nimbus set out the next day for Ipsen port. Nobody would guess that this would be Nimbus’ last job . . .

Ipsen, a remote island smack in the middle of our world. Terrible stories were told of this place, stories about beasts lurking in the thick fog waiting to rip a ship and its crew to shreds.A weary feeling fell over the ships crew. Soon the whole lot was asleep, passed out where they once stood wide awake. Nobody from the crew remembers what happened during that time period, only that their beloved captain was gone when they awoke. The only thing left was a bloodstained sack with the payment inside.

They searched and searched the surrounding area for him, but there was no sign of him.
A weak later the crew mournfully set back for Iskander, Nimbus’ home.

It had only been a week since he had been pronounced dead by his crew mates, but the skies already seemed darker.

A year had passed and Nimbus’ family, as well as his friends, was still mourning his death as if it had just happened yesterday. The crew had sold the ship for a fine penny, seeing how she had no captain, there would be no sailing. But there was a bit of hope for the ship, Nimbus left behind a brother.
He was too young to sail the seas with him at the time yet he had the heart of a Courier no doubt.
The boy spent his savings to buy back his brother’s ship, which was dubbed ‘Ragenork’ by its previous captain, and got himself a Courier’s license. He was now certified to travel this land and sea as a full-fledged Courier. The only thing left was to get a crew together!

Villages and Towns.

Iskander-The land of heros as called by many, Iskander was named after the hero who slew the first dragon. Alters placed in various spots of town remain lit for the day providing a type of spiritual atmosphere. The town is somewhat isolated from the world due to its location in the mountains.

Port Rosa-One of the largest cites in the world, Couriers and general sailors alike call this town a home away from home. One of the most modernized towns, Rosa uses state-of-the-art technology (and a bit of magic) to create things such as televisions a transit system and more. Most of the more rich villagers live in beautifully made ivory homes. The town is generally the first stop for travelers from the mainland because you can set sail immediately from there.

Suffurio- A small island less than forgotten from the world. Small creatures called Chii's live here. Though the world has forgotten them, they have not been wiped out, Not at all, From the center of town magically adept Chii's hourly create new water to cycle through town. In fact an entire transit of rushing water flows through the town. Legend has it that the seas came from one little island . . . perhaps this is that island.

Vascom- Vascom, town of nobles. The sun seems to always shine on this town, and when the moon comes in the sky almost glows. Most of the nobles spend their time at the many theaters or auctions at town, while others gain pleasure in simply laughing at the poor people in town. You see although at first glance this town seems rich and prosperous, but really the majority of townspeople are poor, Those who were once nobles are now the poor because of gambling or just because of stupidity.

Rebena- A beautiful forest town that is home to the race of Lebis, a race that resembles a cat on two legs. The village is protected by large trees that serve as a gate to town. It is impossible for a human to enter without the skill of a Lebis. Inside town the villagers work diligently to get chores and errands done, every month or so the village has somewhat of a festival, perhaps for thanks for a good harvest.

Esto- At the edge of the world there lies only one haven, Esto. Sitting at the very end of the world, on a secluded island Esto is constantly snowed upon. They call this village ‘Pure as Snow’, the people prey each day in front of a large statue of what they believe to be god. The town itself looks to be one large chapel, beautiful stained glass windows lie above every exit from the village. The people who live in the town seem to have a sort of spiritual glow about them, perhaps the townsfolk here have achieved true enlightenment...

Vista- Party town Vista, life in this town is one huge party. If you plan on living in this town remember one thing- your not going to get ANY sleep at all, it’s a wonder how any of the townsfolk get up in the morning. Party all night, work all day, it’s as if the inhabitants have insomnia. The buildings are made of brick and illuminated by a green light that flows around them. Though the town looks like it’s full of nothing but freeloaders and lazy bums, there is a small community of scholars in one area of town, the study the habits of the people of town very closely. Perhaps we could learn a lot from the people of this town...never know.

Ipsen- Known by men of the sea as The Devil's Isle, Everyone in the world knows to stay away from Ipsen Isle. Stories are told of the fog surrounding it holding monsters that devour ships and crew whole, if stories of the fog are that scary imagine stories of the isle itself. Though few see it and live to tell the tale Ipsen is said to harbor large towering castles and a craggy and somewhat unnatural architecture. The town’s folk there are said to be decedents from the first dragon, though this could all be myth- what is it that we humans know anyway?

ooc: joining, I'll fill it out completely later

Name: Jayx

Age: 16

Time spent as Courier: none

Courier rank: none

Hometown: unknown

Appearance: in a sec

Weapon: daggers and throwing weapons

Personality: Jayx is a hyper, cheery, spunky teenager and VERY loud and childish too. she's almost always thinkin the glass in half full and can also be alittle naive and gullible. though at first glance she might seem like a calm, cool, collected, tough as nails, kind of person, once you get to know her, it's easy to tell she's far from it. even though she seems to be a simple, carefree person, inside she is acctually very thoughtfull, fairly smart, and has gone through her share of hard times.

Expertise: navigation, magic combat, long range combat

Skills: grey magic (black and white), excelent aim, exspert with anything that has to do with a ship/boat, and exspert at fixing things, stealth.

Lack of Skills: cooking, sence of direction, close up combat

Bio: her parents were both Couriers, rank A. she learned everything she knows from them though she never became a Courier. her parents died in a ship wrech when out on business when she was 13, so she was left on the streets to fend for herself, she was found by an old woman named Keili who took her in and taught her her trade, magic. unfortunately after a year Keili passed away from old age and Jayx was left alone yet again. since then Jayx's been fending for herself yet again, taking small jobs to survive and on "occasion" stealing when she had to. she worked the longest on a cargo boat, fixing it, steering it, and all that stuff that the drivers and workmen were too lazy or busy to do. so she traveld alot and learned alot from her travels (languages mostly).

4th, can you get Ukir to join this too?

And this ish my fairly unorthadox new pimped out character.I shotened the bio for some easy reading and the fact that it has spoilers for the role-play.Anyways here he is.(btw I havn't put up his temp yet because I have to format everything into the brackets the provided...geez.)

Name: Lucas Trent
Age:17
Time spent as Courier: Little over two days.
Courier rank: D
Power: The elements (you know Earth, Wind, Fire that stuff, oh yeah and the band rocks XD)
Hometown:Iskander
Appearance: http://www.k-manga.net/pic/project/3_small_2.jpg (But his skin is brown)

Weapon:

Nimbus wielded a beautiful Obsidian spear, it was a glorious shining ebony.
The tip was sharply crafted, it looked as if it could cut through even the hardest diamond without problem. At the very bottom is a fiery red orb that gleams brilliantly even in the darkest of nights.
To whomever wielding the weapon a sense of legend falls upon them.

Before Nimbus passed he gave Lucas his spear, it was almost as if he knew something like this would happen.

The weapon holds a dormant power that not even Nimbus knew of, the weapon can absorb the essence from other jewels. Take an emerald for example, within the emerald lies the power of a raging storm of thunder and lightning. Or perhaps the jewel is a Ruby, the weapon could pull a fury of dancing crimson flames. Yet ultimately the complete power of the weapon depends on the user, if the user is weak then only a spark of flame would ignite from the weapon, but if he is strong then an entire forest could burn down with just the word.

The spear is also capable of transforming it’s shape into that of two or one long swords.
This allows the user to pull off some new and somewhat flashy combos.

But if Lucas is able to perform these amazing skills or not has yet to be confirmed.

Personality:

A goof-ball at heart Lucas appeared to have all the answers, but in fact he just makes most things he doesn’t know up. Lucas has an extensive knowledge of the world and it’s waters, he has been studying them since he was young, he’s always held a interest in the Courier’s life, normal for Nimbus’ brother after all.

Lucas can come off as a sort of hot head, he tends to get fired up over the smallest things.
There was one time in Kindergarten where some kid said his drawings sucked, Lucas lashed out in a fury that resulted in him becoming the first Kindergarten student at his school to get suspended.
That brings me to another trait of Lucas, his sense of creativity, he loves create things.
Coming up with a graphic for his brother’s ship’s side was one of his brightest moments art-wise.

Lucas tends to get sidetracked over things easily, he could be doing something as important as a school final and get sidetracked over a beautiful woman passing by. He’s called by some as a ‘Proud Failure’
for his proud attitude and tendency to fail at things.

Expertise: Lock Picking, Steering a ship, Graphics, Navigation and swordsmanship.

Skills:

Trickster-Lucas’ spear transforms into two long swords allowing him to perform ‘Skull and Crossbones’

Skull and Crossbones-The essence infused within the swords are released as Lucas initiates a combo of lightning quick and ferocious sword attacks. In the end the blades turn back into the spear and a powerful beam of flame is unleashed.

Manic- The style consist of high speed unpredictable attacks on the opponent, the whole style is very laid back and Lucas usually seems to be messing around. He can pretend to be walking away, sleeping, or just being idle. The attacks are very powerful and even the best Martial Arts master would have difficulty dealing with the unpredictability of the whole fighting style.

Grasshopper- Lucas’ figure begins to multiply as he starts to hop wildly around the opponent.
This causes the enemy to slip into a confused state, once this phase is over Lucas unleashes a number of quick thrusts upon the enemy.

Stock-Break- A non-elemental attack that consists of the spear transforming into a blade and Lucas delivering one powerful armor shattering blow. This skill leaves Lucas and the Spear’s essence jewel drained. This move is only to be used when needed.

Arrogant Spark- Harnessing the power of flame his body itself is engulfed in flames, this is a state of berserk where flame and all attacks are amplified by insane amounts, but the risk is that this could lead to serious injury or death.

Light Speed- Much like the Arrogant Spark technique this move turns Lucas into a form where he is only seen by the human eye as a glow of flashing purple blue and white light. While in this state Lucas is able to move at breakneck speeds, almost as if he’s traveling at the speed of light itself. When this effect wears off it leaves the boy’s movements to be extremely slow making him all but useless for the rest of the battle.

Earth Shaker- Lucas brings a wall of earth up to shield the entire team from a enemys attacks,

Summon Bro- Deep within the spear’s jewel lies the essence of Nimbus. Nimbus’ ‘ghost’ enters Lucas’ body and unleashes the true power of the spear transforming Lucas into a black winged beast.
While in this state the boy is equipped with complete control of the elements around him. He can bend the fire at his will or create a shower of thunder with the flick of a wrist. The only time Lucas has used this skill was battling the first dragon- after using this he was out for a week straight.

Bio: Shortened severly.

Happy Birthday!

Yeah, some birthday, on the day of your birth your brother is announced dead.

Nimbus was a hero to the village, he was the pride of his family. Everyone knew of him, Even if you didn’t like him, you’d here more of him than you really wanted to.

Lucas was always the ‘other brother’, nobody really put forth an effort to listen to him. You see although he loved Nimbus greatly he always wanted to succeed him, he wanted to be a better Courier than him, so he wouldn’t be the ‘other brother’ anymore. So he trained, he grew stronger, he even started to read more of the world. Eventually he knew the world and it’s geography as if he had been around it twice. He possibly knew more of the world than even Nimbus! But we would never find that out would we?

Still no matter how much he improved he would still be ‘the other brother’. It wouldn’t change...
It wouldn’t...

And so the day of the sixteenth birthday came, this is what every kid would wait for, yet it seemed highly underwhelming. Nothing new, nothing ground breaking... just a one and a six atop a birthday cake.

But when the night seemed over a ship pulled in...Nimbus’ ship. When the entire village came to greet them the entire crew came of with an ill-spirit about them. Lucas who was in front of the crowed looked around the crew to find Nimbus...but he wasn’t there.

One of the crew spoke, about the Dragonheart, about Ipsen, and about...his brother’s death.

Ever since that day the skies have seemed darker, the villagers walked with a slump, his parents were always weeping.

No longer was Lucas the ‘other brother’, he was the only brother...

Lucas, he couldn’t let this be the end of his brother’s ambition. Somebody had to step up to fill Nimbus Trent’s shoes as the greatest Courier one day, and who would be better for that spot than his little brother? By this time the next year Lucas was set, all he needed was a crew. Some of the old crew members could be found at Port Rosa...but would any of them want to join him? That was yet to be determined.

The boy left the night of November 9, the day of his seventeenth birthday. His brother’s ship Ragenork was at the port at the bottom of the mountains. With his brother’s spear in hand and a pack full of supplies the boy set down the long winding path to the bottom of Mt. Iskander.

The mountain side was illuminated by candles along the side of the path, as long as he could remember he never saw the candles burn out. Old folklore says that if the mountains ever bright lights go out the children of Iskander are doomed. He prayed that story wasn’t true as he continued down the path.

The first steps of a long journey were now behind him. A sense of awe was upon him as he climbed onto the giant ship. The mountain seemed angry, gusting winds whipped him on the face. For a moment he stood at the edge of the deck to look at the waters. It was time- time to leave the shelter of home and time to walk the path of the Courier...
