I forgot to sort out all the results for last year. In fact I stopped checking a couple of weeks before the end of the season. I think it's safe to say that Tristan won though and Nem came second but the bloody reset messed things up.

So, are we doing another one this year? There's plenty of preparation time. Do we want to go with (http://fantasy.premierleague.com/) again or is there a better online one that we could use because I remember some people saying that they were using other teams last season too? Any suggestions welcome.

I chased Nem right down to the wire! I finally got ahead of him in the penultimate week and then lost :( I'll sign up again, but I wont pick my team until much closer to kick off!

I'd like to sign up, and can also volunteer to check on scores if you needed more than one person to do it.

That site looks pretty good - what sort of prizes are there for winning?

Personally, I always really liked the Yahoo! version. There was much less emphasis on the team you began the year with, which was nice.

But sign me up to whatever, I might actually check beyond the first week this year. If my starting team doesn't perform appallingly, I mean.

The prices are quite tough this year aren't they? I had to pick a randomly generated team to set the league up so I haven't gotten around to selecting a proper one yet, but just looking at the cost of certain players is making me wince.

Dark Mandy
07-31-2006, 01:16 PM
At least it stops people from filling their squads with players from only the top 4 clubs. The prices are quite steep in some cases (like 14 for Henry), but it just means you have to use players from some of the lower-ranked sides. I've still been able to field a side featuring Rosicky, Van Der Sar and John Terry, without having to bring in donkies like Heskey.

Enemy Airship
07-31-2006, 02:18 PM
I seem to remember starting last season with Rooney and Henry upfront with Lampard and Gerrard in midfield, such were the prices then.

Had a dream midfield just now! Sadly I was .5mil over though, so I had to bring in Campo instead :(

Earl Of Slander

The Grog Monkeys have been entered. I'm liking my team, and having Smith classed as a Midfielder could be a huge payoff when he comes back from injury.

Dark Mandy

Once you've got a team, click on leagues on the side and put it in the private league box.

Final Jonathan

Click on Leagues and it'll have a box for you to put it in.

So there's only 7 people!

Enemy Airship
08-06-2006, 01:35 AM
Seven people is more than we had last year. Tristian isn't entering this time either, so we might be in with a chance!

Isn't Alan Smith still injured for about a month? Surely having him in your team would be a pretty bad idea. He also plays in midfield for Man Utd, that's why he's a midfielder!

Earl Of Slander
08-06-2006, 01:01 PM
Alan Smith gets back in September, yeah. I like to put a lot more focus onto my initial team - and besides Smith is very much the substitute midfielder - I'm sure the rest can do fine on their own.

With the departure of Nistelrooy, the chances of Smith being played in an attacking role is good so that could equal more points.

Enemy Airship
08-07-2006, 12:19 AM
If he was a good striker that is

I've just spend the last few minutes kicking out Carrick. Useless sack of...

Earl Of Slander
08-07-2006, 12:20 AM
Haha, I got Carrick in my midfield actually. It'll be interesting to see how varied the teams are. I'm willing to bet that the Goalkeepers and Strikers are going to similar, not so sure about the rest though.

And Smith is just fine :)

Brother
08-07-2006, 02:13 AM
I had Carrick too. Now I've got to rethink my midfield. I haven't got Henry in my squad for the first time in about five years. Has anyone else managed it?

Enemy Airship
08-07-2006, 01:35 PM
For goodness sake, I did some jiggling and replaced Carrick with Joe Cole .

I went with Henry as he's guaranteed points. In fact, my front line is pretty bad ass (at the expense of my defence  ).

Actually, I've 'pulled a Nem' this year and made two teams just in case!

Earl Of Slander
08-07-2006, 01:38 PM
I didn't even consider going with Henry this time around - the 14 million thing completely deterred me and I wasn't too impressed with his World Cup form anyway. Having said that, he really is guaranteed a good 20 goals this season. Still, my front line isn't anything to laugh about :)

What's with the sudden rush to replace Carrick, anyway?

Enemy Airship
08-07-2006, 01:54 PM
He's injured as well.

Putting injured players in your team really is like shooting yourself in the foot, especially when you can replace players at any time.

Earl Of Slander
08-07-2006, 01:57 PM
...
Well, thanks for telling me because the news coverage out here in the States is apparently dire. Yahoo don't show him as injured either ... but whatever. Time to tinker around then.

Enemy Airship
08-07-2006, 02:20 PM
He twisted his ankle in a friendly. Should be back in August. I think Joe Cole is out until November/December time too. As much as it pleases me that our rivals are losing star players, I wish they'd be considerate to my dream team :(

Dark Mandy

He's shit. £18.6m? Spurs must have been laughing all the way to the bank.

I've just swapped Carrick, Van Der Sar and Rosicky. I'm a bit gutted about letting Rosicky go and it may come back to bite me in the arse but this way I've been able to get Gerrard in. Out goes Lennon too.

Earl Of Slander
08-07-2006, 06:35 PM
I think that would be very wise considering you have an unlimited number of transfers right now. If it backfires you will lose a lot of points and if James does go then you can make the change whenever you want.

Enemy Airship
08-07-2006, 06:35 PM
I'm better than David James in goal, but they're still going to pick him because of his vast experience. If he's your first choice keeper, you've either made a tactical masterstroke of freeing up money for other players, or you're going to go from week to week having a GK that isn't winning you any points :(

Sensei Reno
08-07-2006, 06:41 PM

I thought subs automatically went through? So if Rosicky didn't play for me, Kevin Davies should have come through, no? Or does that happen after all the matches are done?

Edit: For that matter, 3 of my players didn't play, so shouldn't all of my subs automatically come on? I'm really hoping so, because I've got another 18 points on the bench. :(

Edit again: Checked the help bit of FPL, and thank god, substitutions come in at the end of the week. So, I didn't do quite as shit as I thought. Obviously Fulham will get a clean sheet too, so I'll be fine.

Ah, up to 50 and I still have two to play today. :)

Who's in your revamped squad? Or don't you want to let on? ;)

These transfer points are killing me this year. I'm waiting to see how the Argentinians do today but I definitely need to take Bridge and Berbatov out this week at least. Shevchenko's disappointing too. If I'd have brought Johnson in I'd have been top now!

Primus is having a great season and Cole's still relatively cheap. Giggs I was going to bring in, maybe Zamora or Saha but I could do with swapping both of my shit strikers really. I hope Tevez impresses today.

It all depends on how your 'Pool and Newc' players do. I wanted to put some more in but I already had to make two substitutions because Berbatov's injured and Bridge won't play. That's four points already and with another four for each other sub it's just not worth the risk.

Well this was just a dark weekend of football all around for me. Chelsea winning, United losing against Arsenal and to top it off my Fantasy week was crap.

Neither goalkeeper played which is just retarded, Ronaldo single handedly lost us the game, all 3 of the strikers I put up had the worst games of their season. At least Portsmouth did the business though.

I just made some transfers anyway, Bridge out - Essien in. I took Downing out too, and Powell for a couple of decent defenders because none of my substitues were even playing.

Ronaldo single handedly lost us the game

Actually, I think you'll find it was more of a team effort. Ronaldo may have given the ball away which lead to the goal, but Arsenal were better throughout the whole game.

Not many things can piss me off as much as fantasy football can. I decided at the beginning of the week that I was only gonna make one change - Mcarthy for Larsson.

Then, for some dumbass reason I decide to bring in David Dunn for Arteta as well, costing me 4 points. Didn't even think to check on Dunn's fitness or anything, then 2 minutes later realise he's unfit and probably won't play for a couple weeks. Arteta scores a penalty today and things just go from bad to worse. I can't think of anything more infuriating than fantasy fucking football.

Edit: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGH HHHHHHHHH

Same here :( I think I dropped Arteta for Pedro Mendes so that I could shell out for a decent striker. Martins roped in a dismal 1 point (I think) despite the fact that he scored a goal. As for that clown Jaaskelainen... I put in Van Persie for Obafemi last week, then swapped them around this week... It's just one big piss take!

Shorey who has played every minute of the season so far for Reading was suddenly replaced too. Another 6 points lost.

It's just taking the fun out of the premiership for me, or at least what fun is left. I'm more bothered about who's scored than who wins. :(

Oh fuck. I got knocked off the top spot. :(

What a disgrace. I was totally gonna have Lampard as my captain, but I had to be all pessimistic and say he couldn't score again this week. :(

I guess it's time to put down my loyal Portsmouth Defense.

Only 91 this week? How disappointing.

I wish I'd kept hold of that Norwegian scamp Pedersen for a bit longer, too.

What a fall from grace you've had, Re:Re, all the way down to 4th! Also, I'm claiming the top 3 highest gameweek scores of 113, 111 and 91. (I think!)

If only I'd sorted it out earlier in the season!

There should be an award for me being number one the longest. :(
Can't believe it. 4th.

One of my goals in life is to beat Nem at this infernal dream team game. This year I was four points behind. Unbelievable.I bet I beat his Rupert Bear team though! Why couldn't he have kept them in the league :(

Where did I finish? 6th? 7th? I gave up on it and haven't logged in in about five months.

I want Tristan to be back in the league. He'd be good competition.

Ho ho ho, how the mighty have fallen.

My Rupert Bear team was last year!

I only had Andernazionale this year.

Still they owned your bottom.
