Tetra Master Online

Hello guys.

I've been looking for a free, good online playable Tetra Master for years and couldn't find anything. But, to cut a long story short, i've written my own Tetra Master Online. A friend createt the game client as a Java Applet and i integrated it into a website, where you could buy cards, create games, join games and so on. I just downloaded the card pictures from PlayOnline.com .
It works for the biggest part, i can play Tetra Master online now, with selected people.

My problem is - is that legal? I wasn't sure so i better took the site from the internet before some idiot sues me. Many people told me at least, that it would be illegal to use the pictures. But it's not even a commercial website, i dont get any money of it, it's completely ad-free. So, can use the pictures and most importantly the game rules for my own Tetra Master and can maintain a website offering hundreds of people to play it online without injure any laws or rights?

Technically, it is illegal. SquareEnix probably will let you off and if it did concern them they wouldn't slap you with a lawsuit. They'd send you a warning email.

No one is going to really find out tho. And if worst comes to wost, slightly change the names and add a hat on to the pictures or something :P

It is perfectly legal. Infact, there was already a Triple Triad/Tetra Master online game by the name of Questria that was open for many, many years.

Seems to be down now though because the administration lost interest, I assume.
