As we all knows, sadly, comics never gets the acknowledgment it deserves.
In my opinion there should be a Nobel prize for comics.
If literature can have it, why canīt comics?
So let me see some of your favorite comics and creators.

I try and get comics by Adam Warren. I have his version of Bubblegum Crisis and I think its totally amazing. His Dirty Pair work is excellent also. And the Tomb Raider and WitchBlade comics by Top Cow were awesome :D

I don't really read much of comics anymore, but back in the day I used to be a massive fan of Sonic The Comic. Released once a fortnight, following my favourite gaming mascot - truly the don of all British kids comics (excluding the Beano and Dandy). I also used to pick up these Judge Dredd and 2000AD comics now and again, but back then the 2000AD ones didn't appeal to me too much.

In sweden, we have a comic creator named Johan Wanloo.
His work is the best I´ve seen in years. I bought "Den skitstora Johan Wanloo-boken" and it´s wonderful. I can really recommend it- but you need to understand Swedish to appreciate it. :)

Dont read comics no more but I still pick up a Beano now and then. That comic was brilliant back in the day. After its 60th birthday it brought in new characters and stories which stank, but still, it was a quality comic. Calamity James and the Numbskulls were genious, always funny and predictable....ahh those were the days!

I don't know if the comic strips you find in MAD magazine would count as actual comics, but I love 'em anyhow. They're ultimately stupid, but it always gives me a good laugh or two.

After the Beano turned sour I just never really got into them again, kinda grew out of them. I only read the Beano's Annual at Xmas every year because they bring the old characters back, but I never really was a big comic guy anyway....TV took over from an early age!

Spider-man The Simpsons Comics X-men Comics And Fantastic four comics :D
im a big fan of the sonic comic series, the Batman series, Spidierman had some really good ones, Avengers is amazing, and at the moment my personal favorite would have to be the Coheed & Cambria story written by the lead singer Claudio Sanchez(they have a really weird order of the comics right now where the 2nd set has 6 issues and only like 2 are out the 3rd set isn't out yet but the graphic novel for the 4th is out and the first might be out its all very confusing but the story is amazing) if i was gonna go into other comics i would have to dig out all my old ones and look through them all.

I read comics in excessive amounts.
I spend way to much on them, I devote way to much harddrive space to downloading them, but I can't help it. People who look at comics as juvenile and lacking intelligence are fooling themselves, some of the most brilliant writing I've ever seen has been in comics.
Anyways heres my list of writers I love, and my favorite work by them.
Grant Morrison: His run on Doom Patrol was excellent, as was his Animal Man run (I was telling Esjay the other day that to see an author implement meta-fiction perfectly read Animal Man) his JLA run was simple excellent Super Hero stuff nothing to crazy. He's set to do Batman soon and I am STOKED.
James Robinson: The only thing I've ever tracked down by him is Starman, but Starman is all one needs. It's honestly the most brilliant traditional Super Hero comic I've ever read. Simply perfect.
Alan Moore: The Watchmen, his run on Supreme, Miracle Man, His Swamp Thing run. Alan Moore started the trend of excellent writing on comics.
Neil Gaiman: Sadly he hasn't written to much comics, but he HAS written The Sandman, considered by many to be the best long run series of all time. I don't know if I fully agree but it is one of my favorite works of fiction of all time.
Frank Miller: The Dark Knight Returns, Batman Year One, his Daredevil runs, Sin City. All wonderful stuff. Sadly his talent seems to be gone examining his All Star Batman run.
Warren Ellis: Transmetropolitan could be my favorite comic ever. I think the rest of Ellis' stuff is shit, but god if Transmetropolitan isn't fantastic.

I'm posting cheeky :XD:
I am a pretty big fan of the Tomb Raider and Witchblade comics (looks like i have influenced another someone on this forum to read similar comics :D )
I also read the current X-Men comic "Essential X-Men" and right now, the current storyline is getting pretty dramatic seeming as Magneto isnt actually dead, Phoenix and Wolverine are deserted out in space after Asteroid M blew up, Cyclops and Beast are out in the Pacific Ocean, and a new Brotherhood of Mutants has just been formed

I'd pretty much agree with all of these. These guys are all excellent, I'd also add Wagner to the list for his incredible work on Judge Dredd. I love some of Miller's stuff, 300, Ronin, The Dark Knight Returns, but I think The Dark Knight Strikes Back is one of the worst graphic novels ever written. Then again Batman's been going downhill since he got his Back broke by Bane and the reintroduction of Jason Todd ain't helping matters.
I don't know who does them but I used to read the Preacher comic run near religously, I've not really read many comics since Infinte Crisis/Ultimate Marvel though :(

Garth Ennis wrote Preacher, and I TOTALLY forgot that series. Thank you Spike.
Also worth mentioning, Geoff Johns run on The Flash, and also his run on JSA.
Garth Ennis run on Punisher, and Hellblazer
Niel Gaiman's Sandman series.

As a personal reference, if you liked either Witchblade or Tomb Raider comics then it is suggestible that you read Aphrodite IX, it seems pretty good in my opinion, even though i've only read 4 AIX comics!!
Here is a site where you can read about them:

I'm looking into reading the Soulfire and Fathom series, mostly because I'm intrigued by the artwork. Otherwise, not a big comic book reader.

Yeah, anything by Moore, Gaiman, and Miller (The Big Three as I like to refer to them...no, not really...>_>) kicks ass...hell, even Gaiman's regular fiction is good...My fav of Gaiman's would have to be Sandman: Dreamhunters because Amano's artwork is just beautiful...
Speaking of which, Amano's other work w/Greg Rucka in Elektra and Wolverine (yeay, I own each of the comics!) was freakin great...I want Amano to do more w/American comics...
I also gotta give props to Jhonen Vasquez's awesome run of comics, especially Jhonny the Homicidal Maniac. His art style is awesome and funny.
I've also been a big fan of Joe Madureira's artwork in comics since his run in, was it Uncanny X-Men?
As for manga, I'll have to go w/Lone Wolf & Cub, which is a great, terrifically violent series revolving around a ronin (former samurai) and his kid who are kind of out to clear their name against the mighty ninja clan, the Yagyu, set in feudal, edo-period Japan. It's also very well written and very historically accurate. It kicks Naruto in the balls and leaves it crying in the dust.
I'm sure there's tons and tons more, but that's all for now...

*Sorry for the necromancy*
Top of my list: (in no particular order)
Marvel:
Secret Wars
Spiderman comics
Uncanny Xmen
etc
DC:
Crisis on Infinite Earths
Flash comics
Green Lantern comics
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
JSA
Superman: Red Son(one of two supes comics I ever liked)
Young Justice
etc
My new favourite right now is Exterminators. I owe Western comic writers an apology; it is my narrow-mindedness to assume that only Japanese and Korean artists are capable of subtle, yet extremely engrossing plotlines.

I CHEERED TO THIS SCENE!
Am I allowed to say webcomics? If so, then Penny-Arcade.
I'm always a fan of, dare I say it, the indies like Filler Bunny and JTHM etc.
I should really read more, but nothing like...interests me much.

I forgot to mention Brian Lee O'Mally's Scott Pilgrim series which is a weird comic about this guy who has to fight the evil ex-boyfriends of the ninja delivery girl he's trying to go out with...There's tons of RPGaming nerd and comicbook dork kind of references throughout.

As of late I've been very into Marvel's The Runaways. As well as the Ultimate universe. Its all new and refreshing in my opinion.

I'm also a big fan of Runaways, I can't wait for Joss Whedon to start his run in April.
I also really like American Virgin, New Universal, Ultimate X-Men, New X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, and I'm really looking forward to the new Buffy series that is starting up this month.

Wow guys, I expected more.
Anyways, I buy comics every weak, subscribed to them, choose food over them. Im pretty much addicted. So a list of favorites...
Amazing Spiderman
Since like 8.
The Walking Dead
Its like your favortie zombie movie but infintly going on. No end to the series yet and no plan on one. Kirkman is an awesome writer in my opinion.
Marvel Zombies along with Marvel Zombies vs The Army of Darkness
The originals are just hilarious and the new MZ vs Army of Darkness is already delivering.
The Civil War
Pretty good up until the shitty ending. Could have done better.
The Silent War
So far, really good.
Eightball
It was just a really funny indie comic.
Blankets
Also another good indie comic, one guy did all the work for it and its just about his life. Good read.
There are so many, so so so many. Im obviously a huge Marvel fan. DC could never spark my interest except for maybe Batman. But it is rare that I buy Batman stuff.

o, i have a couple of favorite comics/ creators, one comic is Comic Party which is by various authors, another would definitely have to be King of the Bandit: Jing by Yuichi Kumakura, also .hack// Legend of the Twilight by Rei Idumi and Tatsuya Hamazaki, and last but not least <Comic> by Ice Kunion
Recently, I had the great pleasure of reading the first few chapters of Fables. I must say that I am quite impressed with it; fairy tales with a new twist... the last time I read something like that is when I came across a manga titled Prince Ludwig, and... let's just say THAT particular piece of work is way too bloody and twisted for my tastes.

Fables is a keeper. Especially if Snow White sports that sort of rack

Just to say: Free Comic Book Day (www.freecomicbookday.com)'s on the first Saturday of May (that's the 5th if you didn't know) again this year...
Also, I just got the first of (Stephen King's) the Dark Tower comic books (there are three of seven out so far) and it's good to know the Tower Junkie in me is still running strong. ^_^
Also, might I suggest people add their favorite authors & artists? I mean, prop the books, sure, but prop the people that make them what they are first, eh? I mean, putting "Uncanny X-Men" has got to be one of the vaguest statements you can make in terms of comic books...Which run people? lol
