So what are your views on summoning?
I absolutely hate summoning in every FF i've played so far. They've always been useless to me. They were most useless in IX when Vivi's attack did more that Ramuh. In FF7, they were useless there as well. Most of your characters could do more attack than they could, so why equip them? All they did was take away 5-10% of your HP. In FF8, they were only good for junction. Other than that, their attack power was weak, and I believe they cut a little out of your salary as well. In 10, they were useless there to. The only was half-way decent was Bahamut. And they killed his look too and his mega flare was nothing but a rainbow. I only summon in FF when i actually have to. Such as in 10 where there were battles where you had no choice.

If you don't like them don't use them. A lot of people know how to use them well in their strategy and use them often. If you don't that is fine. I personally rarely use them as summons.

Summons do way more powerful attacks and better white magic too instant heal in IV and they just look great I mean whoa they're very useful.

Sgt Toppin, its not like I'm trying to complain about summons, I'm just trying to make a discussion about them, and asking your views on summons. And Zaden, they aren't that powerful. Although I haven't got that far in 4 so maybe they are useful in that game. I was just saying 7-10 they're completely useless to me.

They are very useful in FFX. You just get them to their limit break in normal battles and then you can use them with their big attack against a hard boss. That's the only way I could beat Yunalesca. I'll admit that I never really used them in VII or VIII and I have not played IX. All I really used them for in VI was learning magic. But even then they are useful for that. I think VI had the best system for getting magic, but I did like VIII's junction system too. If you think about it though, if they were too powerful then people would stop using physical attacks and just use the summons all the time. I don't think Square wants that.

I. LOVE. SUMMONING. ;)
They were most useless in IX when Vivi's attack did more that Ramuh.
One of the things about summoning in FF9 is that you don't just get an instant powerhouse attack; you have to keep collecting peridots to power up Ramuh's strength. I didn't mind having to build up the power like that and actually prefer it like that. Ramuh at first isn't that hard by the time you get him becuase some of the enemies you battle may drop peridots as spoils.
Bahamut....? HELL YES. I worship in the holy order of Bahamutism, after all. :P
The only game where I equipped them but didn't particularly summon them was FF6.
As a whole, though...? I love summoning. ;)

Yeah In IX Vivi's aero isn't nearly as powerful as Eiko's Fenrir wind attack and with Ramuh, the full version attack causes way more damage when it just shows the staff being dropped and what about Carbuncle isn't she goood and in VIII with the summons you can use them to take hits for you and they do a lot more damage without using MP or anything so you won't have to waste a firaga or a triple, Cerberus is the best no doubt.

I liked summoning. It may not have been to powerful (unless u customized them, like in FFX) But their overdrive attacks were very useful to me! I especially like Shiva and Anime.

I always look forward to seeing what new Summons they bring into the new games and also what they do with the old ones. I am not sure how the FF community would take a FF without summons.

Summoning are the best. i found them really useful except once your lvls are high enough to kick ass, then the only useful one was the final summon. the only one i don't use them that often is 9, but it is useful when u need a healing character with not much strength... Garnet, Yuna, and eika
SgtToppin, man u make life hard reading bright blue on dark brown, purple, red... whatever

You can change the setting to where other peoples font colors are set to the default. You can also change the background color.
