ok, if you haven't seen this anime (or don't plan to) you deserve a kick in the face. It follows the career of young boxer makunouchi ippo and his rise to the top. From weakling to champion, this anime shows it all. It came out in 2000, sooo it's not all computer crap animation, it's mostly good ol' pen and pencil. the amazing part of it is that THEY DON'T RECYCLE FOOTAGE! well, at least not that i saw. The animation is fantastic, as well as the music and the plot. They go in depth with each new character ippo faces, as well as his companions takamura, kimura, and aoki. The anime is touching to the point that i'm compelled to take up boxing, but not until after i finish basic training. im 47 of 75 episodes in (4th time through this series...) and this anime has given me goosebumps several times, and i've even found myself yelling at my monitor. With elements like these, it's not hard to understand why it's one of the highest rated animes ever.
