It's a bit generic. I'm not into the tech look myself and certainly not in the sort of colour cheme you have going. It's just not really eye-grabbing. It doesn't stand apart from other websites and it's very plain. I'd look at doing something else with the banner.

That said, it's not a bad effort if you're fairly new to this sort of thing.

To me, this looks more like a forums skin concept than a website design. I don't really like such a 'futuristic' design - I like simple lines and simple enough colours with a solid div or table layout. I think that integrating the header image into a layout looks best, instead of cutting it off from the rest of the page. Use blending and brushes for a new effect, and then put invisible or whatever you like on top.

I can't imagine text would look so good on the space you made for the content. If you made it more simple, and perhaps didn't limit the size of this content box then it would look better.

When making header images, play around with blending, effects and brushes. Putting an image onto a plain background and then adding text is easy but very boring.

EDIT: I just realised how much I bumped this topic. I hadn't noticed the gap in time. (This particular forum is pretty much barren of activity.)

I have to agree with all of you, the site is somewhat generic and too, photoshoppy. If that makes sense. Good start though.

Yeah, there's propably nothing more to say. It's so simple i've seen this design all through the net. Not with those graphs and colors, but it's just as common as dog's shit on the street.
I didn't like that, maybe 'cuz i like more simple things, like our ffinsider.net or more smooth things.

I agree with you. If it’s simple it will not take the focus on anything else
