I'm in a bit of a dilemma with this game (well the first) and i need to know a few things.

Lemme explain, i have the 1st (it's a good game and all) but i've read that it gets pretty boring and to be honest it is moving on really slowly.

So i was wondering, if i got Covenant and didn't complete the 1st would much of it make sense? I know Covenant is meant to be much better so i'm willing to give it a try (just seen a trailer and it looks better).

So would anyone who has completelted the first give me an opion on this? You'd be a big help.

I've played them both and beat them both. I started off with SH first then moved on to SH:C. SH:C may not make sense since it takes the bad ending from SH. I personally thought the first one was better then the second, mainly because of they storyline and better Fusions for Yuri. I say play the first one before SH:C so you can actually grasp the whole story of it. There's a lot of small references in SH:C to SH that may not make sense to you for that reason.

I finished Covenant a while back without having played the first, and it's nevertheless one of my favourite RPGs. It's true that they follow on directly from one another and there seems to be a lot of links between them, but everything you need to know about the first game is communicated in frequent flashbacks. I think all the playable characters are brand new ones, too, aside from Yuri.

But since you already have the first game, I'd just finish it before starting on Covenant. It's not necessary to understand the story, but it's bound to improve it if you know the full history.

Ive got them both and both are excellent games. Koudelka for the PS1 was meant to be the first installment for the SH series because she does put an apperance in the first or second game (cant remember which, but I think its the first). It doesnt make any difference if you play Koudelka before the SH series, but play SH1 before 2 and get Koudelka if you can cause its an excellent game.

Everything is explained so well in Covenant, that it can very well stand on its own. But its really nice to experience all the stuff first hand in the first one. I played Covenant first, by the way, and I adored it.
