I haven't kept up with it much, but America did have more golds but didn't really have many medals.

I usually love the Winter Olympics but I dunno, this one just seems decidely boring. The only thing that's really gripped my attention this time around has been the speed skating and the ski jump. Other than that I'm really not bothered this time. Which is unusual.

Yeah your one hard nut to crack!
I more like the regular Olympics mostly cause of the Curling event in the winter one.
Every time I turn on The Winter Olympics it's on and it's so boring!

I really lost intrest to it after the second day watching it.
Has the Red Flying Tomato won a medal yet?

Was there ever any doubt that Shaun White would walk away with the top honors at the Olympics? White gave a gold medal performance by landing a twin 1080 and then a frontslide and backslide 900 in the Man's Halfpipe competition. His teamate, Danny Kass, won the silver medal in the event.

So the Checzs (sp?? wtf bbq) lost to Swizerland, eh? Anyway that's excellent for Finland, cuz we've already beaten the Swiss and even if we lose to the former ones, we can still win our group! I'm talking about hockey.
And Sweden lost to Russia! Ha. Russia's my second favourite team.

Yes we lost to Russia, but now we have FORSBERG in our team. :)
A bad game like that is good for our team, we´ll do better in the future.
And we beated USA in the womens tournament, after a dramatic shootout.
Awesome. Kim Martin must be the best female goalie in the world.
Some great comments during the game by former Djurgården trainer, now expert commentary for SVT, Niklas Wikegård:
"Thanks for the coffee!"
"We´re in the front seat of the bus now."
what did everyone think of snowboarder cross?
I thought it was great, lots of fast paced action and the women’s final...well...what a race.

The snowboard cross has been great to watch, and as mentioned the womens' final was fantastic, especially to hear the commentator screaming as the American woman crashed and the Swiss one went past her just before the finish line.
The skiing and speed skating have been good too, even the biathlon event I saw yesterday was fairly exciting.
I saw a bit of the skiing, it was the one where they do that stupidly long jump. I got so into it I was cheering for random people...
The skating was pretty good as well, the men’s speed skating final was great with the two Koreans and the US skater going hell and leather around the track.

The mens hockey tournament goes on and Sweden wins over USA, 2-1.
The refeere sucked though, made us play 3 vs. 5 for 4 minutes in the 2nd period, we didn´t alow any goals that time, but it was unnecessary.
Alfredsson is going strong, 4 goals now. :)
And Forsberg rested the whole game...
I watched that game the whole way through, I thought Forsberg was better?
Sweden really did play in that game, not for one moment did they look sloppy, if they keep playing like that they will go far in the tournament.

Forsberg is all right, he´ll play against Slovakia on tuesday.
Did you see the Finland vs Canada match?

Ski jumpingwas actually pretty fun to watch, except people actually training for tha tmakes me laugh .
I've been watching Torino for the sports and for Italy. I can understand what they're saying when people speak Italian. :)
Anyway, I'm mostly interested in the figure skating, speed skating, and ice hockey. I was really disappointed that Michelle Kwan dropped out; I would have liked to see her win a gold. The men's competition was a lot better than I initially thought. I usually don't watch men's figure skating, but it was pretty interesting. The Russian skater who won, Plushenko (?), did a great job and deserved every bit of that gold medal.
Shaun White took the gold for snowboarding. That was good. I like him- he seems down to earth. I like Apolo Ohno a lot but he only got third in the last race I saw him skate. Hopefully he and the other guys can take the relay. As for hockey, I haven't been able to catch any games, which upsets me.
From my understanding the Olympics are getting really bad ratings here in America compared to everyday shows. These olympics have been the brunt of many jokes by talk shows of various kinds.

I don't usually watch sport, but I have been following the Figure skating. I have always loved Figure skating. The medals were given last night for ice dancing and the Russians walked away with the gold as usual. Americans came second. The British were somewhere down in 9th place, though they gave a really clear cut performance. The technical side just wasn't demanding enough to get them higher up.

The Bobsleigh on Sunday was entertaining because it was snowing so heavilly you couldn't really see anything.

The last stone by the Fins in the Curling was perfection, shame it meant that it stopped Great Britain from getting through to the final but it was an intense match regardless. Oh well we've got to play the Yanks now to determine who gets bronze.

I know virtually nothing about curling but I have to admit that that final stone by the Finns last night was bloody good considering how much was riding on it - they couldn't have done it any better. The men's ice hockey is moving along nicely too.

After seeing Shizuka Arakawa's performance in the Ladies' figure skating, I'd have to say she deserved her gold. I've never seen such a graceful performance.

So today the mens hockey will be decided.
Either Finland or Sweden.
Yep, the old derby/rival meeting, the battle of the nordic countrys, I couldn´t ask for more.
Finland hasn´t lost a single game in this tournament, while Sweden has lost to both Russia and Slovakia. Don´t forget though, we slayed Czech Republic, 7-3 in the semis. :)
As a Swede, I wish and hope for a Swedish victory today.
It´s the last chance for boys like Lidström, Sundin, Forsberg and Alfredsson to win something this big. They deserve it.
I realize it´s not going to be easy. We´re up against Koivu, Selanne even young Nittymäki has impressed.
It´s gonna be a war out there. :)

And looks like you got your wish :) - pretty good game overall, and I think that Swedes did deserve to win in the end. All credit to Finland for coming so close though.

Well, my girl may have fell on here ass (again), but I will never even get close enough to sniff a silver in my life, so congrats to her for doing the best she could. Hopefully she will get another shot at the next games, but, lets face it, that game isn't for people over 20 anymore.

That's not true AO, the gold winner was older. She was really good, but I was really rooting Sasha though. I was devastated when she fell over... 3 times. :(

Yeah, Nicola, but wouldn't you agree that most girls in figure skating are between the ages of 14-16? To me, that is very young, especially if you are competing at the Olympic level. For someone like Sasha, who I believe is in her early twenties, this makes it hard for her to skate for very much longer, much less four more years.
Nicola

I agree, but she does have one more chance, less can be said for that Russian everyone was raving on about.

Everybody lost in the Winter Olympics, especially the people who watched it.

Pretty much last, dancech. Britain finished with one medal.
And Germany "won" the winter Olympics.
...and a little better grammar will go a long way.

Equally, what's the point of a bunch of guys kicking around a ball? What's the point of two guys punching each other? What's the point of people batting a ball to each other past a net? What is the point?
Point is they are sports, a sport is anything that requires an atheletic type of skill. 'Dancing around on ice' is an athelitic skill.

Try to stay on topic here, guys.
Glad to see Shani Davis get that speed skating gold, although I hate to see teammates going at each other.
