Okay, so this is my first RP here, though I do have a little past experience. Still, cut me some slack.

Backstory.

This is set in a time which I don't want to call midevil, but more... post-apocalyptically screwed. In a forgotten past, mankind advanced their technologies to the point of chaos, waging global wars that forever altered the face of our dear Earth. The very meaning of humanity was left in the mud, stomped flat by the ravages of a power-hungry populus. The ultimate climax, of course, came one fateful day when humans pushed it too damn far, unleashing ungodly numbers of nuclear devices that wiped out over seventy percent of Homo sapiens.

The few that were left were forced to make their way in a world suddenly devoid of the machines they had come to rely on. The latent magical ablities of this metaphorically paraplegic race eventually reawakened, and a new brand of society developed, a society reliant almost exclusively upon magic.

A simple yet dense social strata arose along with the formation of large, dramtic city-states. The general class sytem places Nobles, those who claim a divine right to rule through their "advanced magical skills" at the top. Nobles tend to craft massive, archaic structures for themselves to reside in; the city-states build up around these. Just beneath them are the middle class, common people with simpler magical skills, who reside in a more-or-less day to day pace. Commonplace things is a fitting title.

For now, I must go... I'll upate this probably tomorrow; if you wish to add anything until then, feel free. I'm taking suggestions for now. Tomorrow I will finish the backstoy, add the purpose for this RP, post my specific rules, and a character profile sheet. I hope we see some interest in this.

Short addition... The basis of the rest of the backstory is that in the limbo between apocalypse and social resurrection, other species of animalia evolved, more suited to the harsh environments than the soft creatures we know of - we shall call these new beasts monsters, or fiends, or whatever the devil you like.

And this brings us to the point. There is a general murmuring of a return to the olden ways, an adandonment of the magic. These thoughts are promoted by a rebel faction of individuals calling themselves the Redemption Society. We'll know this faction as the primary antagonists. I am accepting applications for membership AND leadership of this faction (think military ranks, folks).

The Redemption Society originated in a region of the world even more scarred by th eolden wars than the rest - a region known as the Badlands. (The location of the Badlands in relation to our own world... well, I dunno. Y'all help me out here. It needs to be fairly central.) Surrounding the Badlands are three massive nations: Beltwix to the North, Crania to the West and South, and Lavelle to the East. As far as ethnic differentiations... let's play it by ear. All three nations have a military (remember, think postapocalyptically screwed), and a central city-state.

I will accept applications for Social Roles in any of the following positions in these areas: Middle Class member (any nationality), Upper Class noble/family member (I will pick these from a smaller lottery), Lower Class merchant, Miitiaman, Wanderer, Independent, or Other (this category is just about free-for-all, simply find some way to relate your character to the backstory).

Finally... the central point. If I can get enough applicants, I want (drumroll) a war. Instigated, of course, by the Redemption Society. The opposing faction will be made of individuals from each nation (if you have any interest in playing such a pivotal role, please note it on your form).

As for the form..

Age:

Ht/Wt (nonmetric please):
Preferred Weapon Class (elaborate if you wish):

One final note: it's not as important in this post, but when we do the RP (IF we do the RP), GRAMMAR IS HUGE. I am a diehard grammar fanatic. No internet lingo.. the loophole: if we decide on ethnic traits, dialogue will come into play, including foreign lingos and accents, etc. Thank you, that is all, have a good evening.

Sounds very interesting. Just a few quick questions: when you talked about the monsters, are they more along the lines of monsters such as vampires and werewolves, or more humanoid? Or is it just let to the imagenation? My idea was to make a mercenary-type character, would that work out?

Wow, guess I was kinda vague (typing during anatomy class does that to you!!!) Monsters are just like... monsters from the FF games. Varied, animalistic, humanoid, imaginary, legendary/mythical, etc. That's something I was going to leave open to participants and see what kinds of stuff people could come up with, tuh'd oui drehg? And as far as a mercenery, yes that would work; that could be an elaboration on the Wanderer role. I'd love to see your projected profile! Thanks for being my first replier!

This sounds cool!
Just a suggestion, but could the Eastern Lavelle be a really upper-class faction and think they are all posh, etc?
It was just an idea for my character. How does this sound: A teenage girl, pampered in everyway by her father (A general or someone high in Lavelle.) She's a bit of rebel child and always gets into trouble, but will fight for her country. She would of course be classed as a noble.
Does this work with your settings/plots?

Of course, it's a grand idea. And yes, anyone can join if they post a profile!

Name: Claire Marie
Age: 19
Sex: Female
Ht/Wt (nonmetric please): Ht: 5.5 Wt: 8.6
Preferred Weapon Class (elaborate if you wish): Spear
Social Role (include ethnicity/hero faction interest): Daughter of General Reigner of Lavelle. Upper-class citizen.
Detailed Bio (don't be afraid to talk a lot; I'm not!): Born and bred in Lavelle, Claire has grown up with many friends and a loving family surrounding her. She is a daddy's girl and proud of it.
At school she was a nuisance, getting into trouble and causing mischief at every possible moment. To her teachers she was a pest, but to her peers a hero. However, the years of immaturity have taken it's toll on her. She has no idea about what's going on in the world or its other countries and factions. All Claire cares about is herself.
Her father, after much pestering, taught her how to wield and master the art of the spear. She was dedicated to mastering how to battle and such, she was a fast learner, becoming one of the most skilled spear users at her school.
At the age of 16 she finished her final year, flunking all of her exams. She didn't care, her family was rich, she had no reason to get grades and later a job. She was content with simply bumming around with no real goals in life. Well, apart from one small dream she kept secret.
She never told anyone, but her true desire was to fight in a war and become a renowned warrior like her father. She wanted people to cheer her name after a long and tiresem battle as she alone, repels an enemy invasion. The thought made her smile with content, her dad would be so proud of her.
But despite her boyish dreams, Claire chooses being a woman over a battle trophy any day. The thought of greasy hair and acne makes her shiver in disgust. She was naturally pretty, but still had to make sure her dress was primp and perfect, her hair glimmered in the suns light and her complexion hid anything she would sell her soul to remove. If anything she was a little vain.

(I hope that's all ok! If there is anything wrong please point it out, thanks!)

I originally posted something more in depth, but it wouldn't post and I lost my DSL connection.
Name: James Winfield
Age: 34
Sex: Male
Ht/Wt: 6’4”/ 243 lbs
Preferred Weapon Class: Small Swords, Hand-to-hand, perhaps guns as the story progresses
Social Role: Redemption Society, Colonel
Detailed Bio:
James started life in Lavelle as an honest and productive member of society, he joined the army of Lavelle at the age of 18. He had been an exemplary citizen and soldier, receiving no disciplinary action throughout his career. Well, save for one. James began to take a shine to archaic literature. He read whatever information he could get his hands on. Topics ranged from the revolutionary war to the market system and to such things as Britney Spears. He found his favorite topics to be physics and chemistry, of which he procured a textbook of each. All of his old world items were rare, hard to come by and harder to find. He had to hide his textbooks in his families house, where they were discovered. Being a soldier he was brought to a military tribunal, court marshaled. He was fought guilty of treason and was to be publicly executed. While waiting for his execution, he escaped. The details of the escape are fuzzy to most in the land of Lavelle and unspoken by others. It’s not a very popular topic now, fourteen years gone.
James was able to make it to the bad lands and to the Redemption Society. He liked their idea of embracing things of the old world and their lack, though not a total destruction of social hierarchy. He joined their forming army were he quickly became a lieutenant. He was able to study many things of the old world. He also developed skills with short swords such as rapiers and daggers, learning these from and old man of Beltwix. He also studied hand to hand combat with two brothers from Crania. He liked boxing, which surprised him because it involved no boxes, and submission fighting. He has worked hard with Redemption Society’s research and development labs. He is working on a true passion of his, field artillery. His battalion has a little over six hundred men and he has become known as the Demon of the Desert, or Desert Eagle amongst most of the others in the society. Not from personality traits, he is well tempered and reserved. Though for the few times he has lost his temper, the name Demon of the Desert is fitting. No, he gained this name for his size, strength, cunning, and abilities on the field. He still practices the magic he learned while in Lavelle. He has more of a moderate view, wanting to merge the two worlds he loves.

I'm going on a trip and will be back late on the 31st. Also, my DSL problems are over. My dog had broken one of our phone lines and we replaced the line.
