I'm a huge FF fan and I will jump at any game that has Final Fantasy written on it or even it has any relation to FF.
I have been enjoying every FF that has been released until FF X-2!! I was very very disspointed by this game. Even though that FF X was very good with a great storyline, but I wasn't all crazy about X-2. Later on when FF XII was released too and I bought it and played it a little, I stoped playing and didn't even bother myself to continue playing because my first impression of the game was very bad and i didn't like it at all!! i felt that it didn't have the charm and the magic that the previous FF games has. After FF X-2 and XII I felt that this is going to be the downfall of my beloved FF series. no wonder they keep remaking and doing new version of the previous games. I sayed to myself, for the sake of the good old times with Final Fantasy, I won't buy any new series of FF. I'll only buy other whatever new game that is related to the previous FFs (Like Dissidia, and I did buy it!) so was I wrong about XII and is it worth playing? and should I not lose faith in Square Enix and the Final Fantasy series? please no spoilers because I might change my mind one and start playing it!! |

I'm not a big fan of it myself, but that's only because I don't rate it as highly as the other Final Fantasy games. It's still a decent RPG and it's definitely better than FFX-2 (not difficult), but FFXII generally doesn't have the same quality of story or interesting characters that older games (FFVI in particular) have in abundance.
If you have an XBox 360 it seems as though Lost Odyssey is good bet if you like the FF series, as it's developed by two of the main guys behind the original games of the series (Mistwalker Studios). I haven't played it myself, but it seems as though plot-wise and in terms of gameplay, it maintains the core elements of FF that Square-Enix seem to have lost. |

I don' really know why I feel this way about FF XII. In every FF game I've played ther was always "something" that catchs my attention and just make me keep playing the game and get carried away by the story. I don't really know what is the reason behind it. is it the storyline? the characters? the first event in the game? one thing is for sure that graphics has nothing to do about it. cuz XII and X-2 definitely got better graphics than the previous FFs, but the games where nothing compared to the others. well whatever this "thing" is, the new FFs seems to have lost it.

you know what guys, I've desided to give FF XII a chance and play the game. after all it is a Final Fantasy, and I can't just set their and have it infornt of me and not do anything.
I have played it a little bet as a trail just to see if I can fall into the game. I've played until I got the crystals or whatever thing that Vaan needs to sneak into the palace, then I stoped so I don't spoil the story. I didn't really like the battle system though. what's the point of having you moving around the battle field but still have to wait and choose the ordrers like attack, magic or whatever. If the battle system became like Kingdom Hearts it would have been one HELL of a game! I also didn't like the license thingy. I mean come on! I need a license to equip my weapons and armors!! that is completly stupid! so I'm going to start the game from the beginning and try to enjoy myself playing FF XII! and I sure hope that I've made the right decision. |

I think the license makes sense in that you should have to "learn" how to use weapons, armors, spells, etc; however, every character should not have started at "zero". I like it when games have characters that start at a level at something other than 1 - it gives it a sense of cohesion, as Basch should have a higher sword-wielding skill than Penelo, for example.

When i first played it i was like "aw hell no" but after i played it for a few day i couldnt stop..the story and the background for the characters really caught my attention...and the world map is the best part.Got such a variety of landscapes...Cities,deserts,mountains,caves,etc.. Actually turned into my favorite right next to FFvii and Crisis Core Hope you enjoy it ![]() ANGEAL CLOUD ZACK GENESIS SEPHIROTH |

I played it once through when it first came out, then picked it up again maybe 2 years ago and played a few hours of it.. so my memory of it is a bit foggy.
I remember being very very impressed by it at first, and then it kind of tapered off.. by the end of the game I wasn't nearly as interested. The story was pretty excellent in the first half and then got very mediocre.. the battle system also gets very old very fast. So yeah, its worth a shot, but be aware that this installment is quite a bit different than the other Final Fantasy games. Except maybe 11. |

I really liked the storyline for 12. The game play wasn't bad, it just wasn't like the older versions. Some people don't like change and for that shouldn't be playing anything on electronics because electronics are always changing so them thinking things will stay the same is idiotic. Things are going to adapt and change with new technologies. I personally love the game. There is so much to do. I haven't done half of what can be done the 2 times I have beet the game and still only doing half it took 80 hours. When I really get the chance I want to really explore the huge world.
